Chess Suite / Members & payments

Set up membership plans and applications

Create the membership offer your organization needs, then review the member journey.

Create your plans

  1. Open People & Membership, then Membership plans. Create or edit a plan with a clear name, fee, benefits and duration. Your chess memberships are separate from your SloopStack software subscription.
  2. Set the information you need from applicants in the membership form. Ask for information required to manage the membership and distinguish required questions from optional ones.

Choose payment and approval behavior

  1. Review Connections for the methods you intend to accept. Cash and bank transfer need staff confirmation. Connected online providers need their own working configuration.
  2. If using automatic approval after verified live payment, enable it intentionally and test that behavior. A submitted form or a return from a provider is not by itself proof that a payment is complete.

Review an application

  1. Submit a test application from the public site. Open Membership Applications and find that application. Review the selected plan, contact details, payment status and approval status.
  2. Confirm or approve the application using the workflow appropriate to its payment method. Sign in as the test member and check that their membership status and permitted content are correct.
  3. Before changing an existing plan, review how current members are using it. Archive or close an old offer when appropriate so that you can retain its records.

Troubleshooting

  1. If a member cannot access protected content, check their account identity, membership status, expiry and the content’s access setting. Do not publish private content just to work around an access problem.
  2. If an application is waiting for payment, inspect its actual payment record and provider result before manually confirming it. Keep the membership and payment histories consistent.
